If you are born between March 21st and April 20th, it may shift a day either way at times, then the Sun was in the constellation of Aries when you were born. Each planet represents an urge, the urge of the Sun is to shine. With a Sun in Aries, you are learning through being in the world, and expressing yourself through an Arian energy. As Aries is impulsive and action orientated, it is natural for an Aries personality to assert their independence, take on the role of a leader, be a pioneer and introduce new ideas and projects to the world. This impulse to burst forth and put your hand up and say, “I’ll do it”, shapes your experience of the world. It’s not to say all Aries Suns will do this, but it is common for the urge to be present. At times an Aries may not follow this impulse from poor outcomes when attempting to move into these roles, or witnessing poor outcomes, or there may be other beliefs systems that hold them back, no less, the urge to be a hero in their story will emerge from time to time.
It is not uncommon for Aries to have a complicated relationship with their fathers, or a dominate father figure in their lives, that shapes their relationship with their hero journey. Becoming familiar with various cultures mythology's of Aries archetypes can support insight into the Aries impulses and character traits, and support understanding of how these impulses may serve and hinder your life.

The Tarot card associated with Aries is the Emperor.
He represents power, authority, force, strength, and discipline.
Arthur Edward Waite, the author of the Rider-Waite tarot describes the Emperor as stability, power, protection, aid, reason and conviction. He is a builder, who takes on the role of leader. He embodies authority. The Emperor aligns us with courage, vitality and personal sovereignty. He is concerned with the laws of society as well as structure and discipline.
He is a mature man who has learnt to control his impulses, who has the capacity to apply prudence to his decision making and not allow his passions and emotions to drive his actions. As an Aries, he is the mature and transcended aspect of the Arian personality.
The Emperor offers stability through the structure of law and order. Power is key in the message of the Emperor and how personal power can be utilised. He speaks to our relationship to the power structures that we meet through authority figures and systems of power and control. It is interesting to note that the words Emperor and Empower are very similar. They echo one another, each pointing towards the capacity to claim, hold and direct power.
In the Rider-Waite Tarot the Emperor is surrounded by five rams heads, symbolising his status as leader. He is the ruler of the material world, which is signified by his crown, and a warrior signified by the armour that can be seen under his robes. He holds in one hand an Ankh cross, a symbol of power, and in his other hand a golden sphere, symbolising that the Emperor holds the world in his hands.

Luke Skywalker, like many Aries personalities, must overcome his story with his father. The journey that Aries has with his father is often a painful one, where the Aries personality needs to look behind the mask of the father and see the wounded soul whose fragility has driven the behaviour that has shaped a difficult relationship. Whilst not all Aries will have a difficult relationship with their fathers, a complicated and painful realtionship with a father figure appears again and again in the lives of Arian men and women.
This speaks to Luke’s journey. His life has been shaped by his father’s choices. These choices force Luke to live through the archetypal Aries journey. He must go on a dangerous quest, become the warrior in his own story, and face many enemies and tests along the way. The risk is that he will repeat his fathers story. He must become a pioneer who forges his identity through courage and wisdom.
Ultimately Luke must make choices, dark versus light, revenge versus forgiveness and empathy. As Aries rules the mind, we see how Aries, whilst known for being impulsive, goes on a quest where he steps into true power and comes into his own when impulse is tempered with reason and prudence is applied to actions.

The myth of Jason and the Argonauts speaks strongly to the Aries archetype. Jason embodies the archetype of pioneer, leader, and explorer. Jason is the son of a king whose throne had been usurped. Due to this Jason was raised in the wilderness by the wounded healer, Chiron. Chiron was a Centaur that taught Jason both healing modalities and the art of war.
Upon Jason's return to his kingdom of birth, he is given the impossible and lethal task of gaining possession of a fleece of gold that has magical qualities. This task was given to him by King Pelias who had stolen Jason's father's throne and who no doubt wished for Jason to never return. In an act of leadership, Jason gathered all the heroes of ancient Greece and sailed aboard the Argo to Colchis to complete his mission. Jason was successful in the perilous journey with the aid of Medea, daughter of the King of Colchis, who was a powerful sorceress. He returned home victorious, married Medea and had children. In true Aries style he became bored and left his wife for another woman and to advance his status. Medea in turn murdered her own children to Jason, and Jason's new wife.
Here again we see a negative father figure that must be overcome, Jason's need to become a hero in his own story, and the qualities of courage, leadership and determination required to take on the journey that Aries demands of the personality. Yet Aries becomes the hero not through strength alone, but with the aid of others. We see in Jason's mythology that the pursuit of adventure carries the potential for both glory and grief, and that without the wisdom to know when to stop, the very force that has led to success, can also bring the hero to ruin.

Pallas Athena is the goddess of warfare, wisdom, crafts, & public administration. She wears a helmet that protects her in battle. Her mind is her fortress where she weaves a network of strategy, diplomacy, & mental clarity. She holds a spear, representing her precision, discipline, and aptitude for strategic warfare. She is often depicted holding Nike, a symbol of victory, representing the connection between strategy and victory. Athena's sacred animal is the owl, symbolising wisdom, strategy, and clear vision in the darkness. She has a shield of protection and upon her breast plate, also known as the Aegis, is the head of Medusa, radiating protective terror and divine authority, symbolizing her mastery over rage, and her disciplined use of power. She is associated with snakes, symbolising protection, and wisdom.
Her creation myth tells that she sprang full grown from the head of Zeus. As Aries rules the head, we see the correlation between Athena, the mind, and the potential of a powerful, wise, and at times overbearing Aries driven intellect. Pallas Athena tempers her impulses with wisdom, she thinks first, then acts. We see in her the realisation of the esoteric ruler of Aries, Mercury, the mind and intellect, and the way through which we understand ourselves and the world.
She is prudence in action.
